In the beginning....

An avid sportbike rider at the time, Jonah was lured by a friend up to Brainerd International Raceway. Being a passionate photographer most of his life, Jonah saw the ideal blend of two of his favorite things and with camera gear in tow, he headed up to the track. After a very successful weekend, Jonah quickly realized the market for high quality photographs and started Momentum Motorsports Photography in May of 2003. Filling the schedule with motorcycle-centric events in the upper midwest, Momentum quickly became a household name amoungst riders and vendors alike. For the 2004 season, Jonah decided to change the company name to MomentumPhoto.net (a.k.a MPDN) to strongly align the brand with its online presence and easy ordering system.

In 2007, Jonah had the opportinuty to share his passion for photography and riding with his then-girlfriend Chelsea Johnson. In 2008, Chelsea's photographic eye and unique style alowed her to become the offical "prettier half" of MPDN. She now shoots with Jonah at most events during the season.

Jonah and Chelsea were married in May of 2009.

About Jonah

Jonah doesn't really remember where his passion for photography came from - likely from the first Polaroid InstaMatic camera given to him when he was 5. After many years of classes and instruction, Jonah's first photography job was shooting an early Kodak digital SLR and working for a company covering sporting events around the Twin Cities. Honing his technical skills as well as those of event mangement and fulfillment, Jonah left that job in 2002 to pursue new challenges in aviation and motorsport photography.

2002 was also the year in which Jonah purchased his first motorcycle, a 2001 Suzuki SV 650s. Immediately addicted to riding, he knew it wouldn't be too long before the passions merged and a year later he started Momentum Motorsports Photography. Ever since then, he stands outside almost every single weekend day between mid-April to the end of September, in almost all weather conditions, shooting motorcycles, and smiling from ear to ear.

When not behind a camera, Jonah enjoys frequent track time scrubbing tires, scraping pucks, and trying to shave seconds off his lap times. He now rides an 04 KTM 525exc in motard trim, a 99 R6 when it's not broken, and a 2005 Zuma when he needs to run errands.

And when not anywhere near a track, Jonah spends his weekdays working as a Systems Engineer for JAMF Software in Minneapolis.

About Chelsea

As an Art Director by day, Chelsea regularly puts her detail-oriented personality and eye for compositon behind the camera to shoot top-quality images. Officially joining MPDN in 2008, Chelsea has already shown her skill by covering the inagural CRA race weekend on Brainerd's new road course.

Chelsea's "real" job is as an Art Director at Persicope Advertising in Minneapolis. There she spends her days working with art buyers, internationally recognized photographers, and directs photo shoots for many of Periscope's clients. Throughout her advertising career, she has worked with cilents ranging from The Islands of The Bahamas to Arctic Cat Snowmobiles.

Chelsea got her motorcycle endorsement in 2007, and went straight from practicing in the driveway to the beginner's course at Steve Bauman's Ridingcourse.com down at DCTC. She is now considered a regular whether shooting or riding, and really enjoys Nick Campbell's cookies. In 2008 she got her first chance to ride with the throttle wide open during a TrackAddix track day at BIR. She sold her stock '03 Suzuki SV 650 at the end of 2008, and now rides an '05 SV 650S with lots of race goodies.
